Ellen S. Jaffe, M.A.
Creative Writing Therapy, and Child and Family Counselling

Ellen JaffeEllen has been writing since childhood, and now spends much of her time giving creative-writing workshops to kids and adults. She has worked with women who experienced domestic violence, women with eating disorders, people who use the mental health system, and people who just want to write but don’t know how to get started. She has also worked in schools from Hamilton to Moose Factory (near James Bay).

Her published books include Writing Your Way: Creating a Personal Journal; Water Children (a poetry collection); and Feast of Lights (a young adult novel), which deals with the power of family stories and connections to help us in times of grief.  She has also published poetry and short fiction in journals and anthologies, and received awards from Arts Hamilton and other literary organizations, as well as grants for both writing and “artists in education” from the Ontario Arts Council.

Ellen enjoys helping people find their own voice, the language to tell their own stories, their own sorrows and joys.  Ellen grew up in New York City, came to Canada in 1979, and has lived in Hamilton since 2000.  She works with individuals, families, and groups.
